The shear line, the place where the deck and hull meet, must be rounded so that glass cloth will lay flat when draped over the shear edge and saturated with epoxy. This seems simple enough and would be if the hull and deck met perfectly. They don't. They meet nicely, edge to edge in some places. But in others the deck extends slightly over the hull, while the deck settles slightly inside the hull's upper edge in others. Getting the appropriate rounded edge that will also be pleasing to the eye takes some work.
