I used Wildwood Contact Cement to glue in the hatch gaskets. This glue is applied to both the gasket and the wooden lip it will be fastened to. The glue is allowed to dry until it is tacky. When the gasket is applied to the lip it immediately sticks in place. But be careful. A mistake is hard to correct.
This is what the gasket looks like when in place. At some point the hatch’s seal will need to be tested to see if they are water-tight.
