After finding the hatch leak I had to fix it. I dreamed up and discarded several inelegant ideas before developing the one described here that eliminated the leak. I think you could avoid the problem I had by applying a uniform amount of epoxy to fasten the hatch cover rim to the underside of the hatch opening and by using many clamps to hold it in place as it drys.
